Job description

We are currently seeking a full-time Shop Cleaner / Yard Support to join our team in Truro, NS.

This role supports a busy heavy repair shop environment and is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, safety, and organization across the facility. This is not a residential or janitorial cleaning role, it involves working in an workshop setting with heavy equipment, requiring physical strength, mechanical awareness, and a hands-on approach. You will work closely with the Service team and play a key role in keeping the shop running efficiently. This job requires physical strength, including heavy lifting, frequent bending, and working in tight spaces.

Responsibilities and requirements:
  • Perform daily cleaning of a heavy-duty repair shop, including sweeping with industrial brooms, removing debris, and maintaining clear work areas
  • Clean up grease, oil, metal scraps, and other materials typical of a mechanical shop environment
  • Support general shop maintenance tasks, including minor repairs (e.g., air line leaks, basic equipment upkeep, forklift checks)
  • Assist with organizing tools, equipment, and workspaces to maintain an efficient workflow
  • Conduct rental trailer check-outs and check-ins, including basic inspections and ensuring units are clean and ready for customers
  • Move equipment and materials as needed (requires regular heavy lifting)
  • Assist shipping/receiving and support parts runs or local deliveries when required
  • Maintain outdoor areas, including yard cleanliness and seasonal tasks (snow, debris, etc.)
  • Work independently while coordinating with technicians and service staff

Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in an industrial, mechanical, or shop environment strongly preferred
  • Experience with general labour, yard work, or shop support roles is an asset
  • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
  • Basic mechanical aptitude (ability to handle minor maintenance tasks)
  • Strong work ethic with a willingness to take initiative and support the team
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong awareness of workplace safety practices

Schedule:
  • Full-time, Monday to Friday
  • 9-hour shifts (daytime)
  • Overtime as required
