As you may know, Sonora Resort is located on a remote island between Vancouver Island and the west coast of beautiful British Columbia. The resort is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes by boat from the nearest town, Campbell River, and there are no additional amenities on Sonora Island. Our luxury resort operates seasonally from May 1 through October 15, and we are seeking applicants who can commit through to late October.
All staff are provided with private bedroom accommodations and meals on all working days. Each room is fully furnished and includes a TV, Wi-Fi, phone, and mini-fridge, with a bathroom shared between two rooms. Our dedicated staff facilities include a lounge with a big-screen TV, games area, exercise facility, and an outdoor space with a hot tub.
We are seeking a dependable, motivated, and adaptable individual to join our team in a unique hybrid role combining Night Janitor and Night Auditor responsibilities.This position follows atwo-week on, one-week off rotation. This role follows a rotating schedule:
During your two working weeks, you will reside on the island. At the end of your rotation, staff transportation is provided to Campbell River. Employees are required to leave the island during their week off and arrange their own accommodations and travel during that time. Extended rotations may occasionally be required during high occupancy periods.
Qualifications
Must be dependable and self-motivated
Strong computer literacy
Experience with property management systems (Opera Cloud is an asset)
Basic understanding of accounting and fiscal procedures
Previous guest service experience
Operate small electric resort vehicles
Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada
First Aid & AED certificates are an asset.
The Night Auditor shift involves working a 10-hour overnight shift from 9:00PM to 7:00AM and is responsible for reconciling daily financial transactions while ensuring the safety, security, and overall care of the resort and its guests overnight.
Night Audit Administrative Responsibilities
Reconcile receipts, balance cash and credit card transactions nightly
Close and balance property management system modules.
Investigate and resolve out-of-balance situations; notify Operations Manager as required
Data entry (guest profiles, fishing licenses, etc.)
Issue nightly occupancy manifest to management.
Complete night security report.
Night Audit Security & Janitorial
Lock and secure resort buildings
Answer hourly security calls.
Conduct routine patrols of guest, public, staff, and peripheral areas (including wildlife monitoring)
Monitor resort cameras.
Monitor noise levels in staff areas.
Identify and report maintenance or safety concerns
Perform light janitorial tasks as required
Assist with minor event or dining room setup
Reopen buildings in preparation for the next business day
Night Audit Guest Care
Answer main phone line and assist with guest inquiries
Create and deliver keycards
Ensure wake up calls are booked where required.
Be ready for guests at any time during shift – handle enquiries or complaints calmly and effectively.
Working with Health & Safety officer on any medical related issues.
Informing Operations Manager of any unusual guest activity, requests or complaints.
Serve as a professional and welcoming front-line representative of the resort
The Night Janitorposition involves working an 8-hour overnight shift from 9:00PM to 5:30AM and supports the cleanliness and presentation of the resort’s public spaces, working independently throughout the overnight shift while coordinating with the Night Auditor.
Night Janitor Job Duties
Deep clean all common areas to ensure the highest level of hygiene and sanitation is met.
Deep clean all common areas to maintain exceptional hygiene standards
Clean dining lodge floors, spa areas, and public washrooms
Sweep, scrub, vacuum, and mop floors throughout the resort
Manage garbage and recycling in accordance with environmental initiatives
Provide laundry services including sorting, folding, and pressing linens
Respond promptly to guest requests (cots, cribs, extra towels, etc.)
Compensation & Perks
Hourly Wage: $22.50/hour while working as a Night Audit, and $21.00/hour while working as a Night Janitor.
Participation in shared guest gratuities
Overtime paid at time-and-a-half after 8.5 hours per day or 40 hours per week
Staff water taxi transportation to and from Campbell River at the start and end of each rotation

Resort Life
The Resort operates seasonally from May through mid-October, during which time our team members work and live on-site at the Resort. Shift work is required. Depending on the department, typical shifts are between 7- 18 days on and 4 days off. Schedules vary by department and peak and non-peak seasons. We require a minimum commitment of one season to be eligible for a position.
