Position Overview

Resumes are being accepted for the part-time position of Facility Cleaner within Corporate Building Maintenance. The successful candidate will be responsible for the cleaning of various city facilities guided by the goals and objectives of the City of Guelph Corporate Strategic Plan and committed to the Corporate Values of integrity, service, inclusion, wellness and learning, the candidate will aid in the achievement of the Community Vision for an inclusive, connected, prosperous city.

 

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of operational tasks focusing on cleaning. This may include but not limited to sweeping, vacuuming, washing floors, mirrors and windows, cleaning washrooms, work rooms, responding to emergency clean-ups and spills, garbage removal etc.
  • Other duties may include stocking supplies or cleaning loose garbage from outside.
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications and requirements

  • Completion of a Grade 12 Diploma
  • Knowledge of proper lifting techniques
  • Physically able to perform repetitive work including lifting, bending, pushing and pulling with moderate exertion
  • Previous experience as it relates to cleaning of large facilities
  • WHIMIS training and a working knowledge of the Ontario Health and Safety Act are required
  • Ability to show decorum when dealing with co-workers and patrons
  • Capable of multi-tasking
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Ability to work under pressure

 

Hours of work
10-23 hours per week, shifts will vary, including some evenings and weekends as required.
