Job Description:

Position Summary of purpose

Under the general supervision of the Operations Manager, the ARC Cleaner cleans according to direction to ensure proper maintenance of the facility. ARC Cleaner is responsible for a high standard of cleanliness to ensure the overall appearance of Victoria ARC is presentable to our residents, employees and other stakeholders.

We ask that staff be retained and present in all areas of the ARC in the best way possible to maintain a positive environment necessary to the growth and comfort of the client. We ask that all staff involved in the Department of Environment contribute to the quality of service offered to clients by showing a positive attitude to others.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Victoria's ARC facilities and capital assets are clean as directed.
  • Fill in the cleaning supplies if necessary.
  • Assist with maintenance as needed.
  • Assist with laundry duties as needed.
  • Clean the equipment after daily use.
  • Other related duties may be assigned as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

  • Exposure to Odors
  • Exposure to chemicals
  • Handling garbage
  • Moving things around
  • Dealing with sharp objects
  • Life requirements of objects/equipment up to 25lbs
  • It is necessary to stand for a long time

Education and Experience Qualifications:

Education, Qualifications and Certifications: 

  • There are no specific educational requirements.
  • Six months of relevant cleaning experience is encouraged.
  • Training in Occupational First Aid and Infectious Disease Control is required within six months of starting the position.

Skills and Capabilities

  • Must be able to follow instructions, both verbal and written, cooperate with others, and complete all assigned tasks to a satisfactory degree.
  • Must provide your own safety work boots.
  • A copy of a negative T.B. skin test result must be presented.
  • Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $21.94 to $22.44 with a maximum of $22.94.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
